My grandfather being a dedicated follower of Shaivism, cherished a desire to visit this holy Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga at least once in his lifetime. So when he got the opportunity last year, I tugged myself along with him to visit the holy city that my grandfather often referred to as the city of temples.

We travelled by train to reach Nasik Road station (A name I found quite odd for a station), in the wee hours of a Friday morning. Since we were on a short two day trip, we did not have much time to cover all the famous temples and tourist spots in the city. So we had prepared an itinerary that would enable us to cover maximum places without making us feel too exhausted or dissatisfied.

We checked into a hotel and after resting a while we proceeded directly to the Trimbakeshwar temple.  My grandfather was enthralled by the fact that he was finally standing in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple and offering prayers to his beloved deity. We stayed in the temple for around one hour and then proceeded to enjoy breakfast at one of the several eateries located in its vicinity.

During the remaining part of the day we visited several other religios places in the city including Ramkund, Sita Gufa, Ganga Ghat, Someshawar temple and Tapovan. We had hired a taxi from outside Trimbakeshwar temple and asked him to take us to various places. This not only helped us save time, but also enabled us to enjoy the beauty and splendor of the places we visited in a more relaxed manner.  We asked the driver to pick us up from the hotel the next day.

The next day we checked out from the hotel in the morning itself. The day was spent exploring the famous coin museum and mineral museum in the city. We also visited the Pandavleni caves and the Dadasaheb Phalke memorial before the taxi driver dropped us off at the station.

We were to board the 7: 35 train to Bhopal and hence availed the online train food service India to get our dinner delivered at the station.
