The origin of the city can be traced back to the 17th century and is named after Prince Murad, the son of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. Moradabad is a city that serves as the center of the Indian Brass Industry and has been adjudged ‘Pital Nagri’ or ‘the city of brass’ as the brass from here is renowned all over the world. Brass handicrafted products are exported to several major countries around the world including U.S.A, Canada, Great Britain and other European counties, the Middle East etc. and accounts for over 40% of India’s exports.

The city is located on the western banks of the River Ramganga and has a number of temples and other religious sites that form the backbone of the Moradabad community. Since it was part of the Mughal empire, it also has monuments depicting that era including Jama Masjid, Najibudaulah’s fort etc.
Railway Station
One of the major railway stations in western Uttar Pradesh is Moradabad and is located very close to the national capital, New Delhi. Moradabad also is the divisional headquarters of Northern Railway and is one of the highest booking stations of India.
