Bandra is one of the most famous localities in Mumbai, the financial and entertainment capital of India. What was once a small village inhabited by the fishermen community, has today emerged as one of the most posh localities of Mumbai. The locality is divided into two sections namely Bandra East and Bandra West. The area is renowned as the home of some of the most celebrated stars of Bollywood besides which many famous writers, poets, journalists and models also live here.

I got an opportunity to explore Bandra on the last day of my recent trip to Mumbai. I along with my friend Rajan, booked a taxi and reached Mount Mary Church, one of the most famous Mumbai Churches.  We then went on to see Bandstand, a great promenade that is frequented by lovers.  We also took went around the residences of Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan, and like every other visitor in the area kept hoping to get a glimpse of these Superstars. Since we were on a tight schedule, we did not spend too much time at one place.

The most exclusive experience during the whole day was the trip across the Bandra- Worli Sea Link. The sight of the vast open sea with several boats and ships bobbling on its waters was simply amazing. The ride proved to be extremely relaxing and refreshing offering us a unique view of the city.

Despite the shortage of time we managed to enjoy the great tasty food in Bandra. We started with having the typical North Indian breakfast at the Grub Corner, located quite close to the Mount Mary Church. In the afternoon, we enjoyed a great Chinese meal at The Tamarind Tree and I especially loved their Lemon Coriander Soup.  Later in the evening, we also enjoyed street food at the Kunjvihar Vada Pav Shop, which is located quite close to the station.

Overall the day proved to be extremely memorable for us. By the time we reached the Mumbai Bandra Treminus to catch our train back to Delhi, we were completely exhausted yet thrilled by our day long exploration of the “Queen Of Mumbai Suburbs”
