Hello! My name is Chitra and I am a student from Delhi. I had heard and even read a lot about the beautiful hill station of Mount Abu located in the Sirohi district of Rajasthan. I was really fascinated about visiting the place the people sung praises of and finally I was able to take the trip last year with group of my college friends.<\/p>\n

Abu Road railway station<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

We boarded the Rajdhani Express from Delhi to Ahmadabad and reached the Abu Road railway station<\/strong><\/a>, the gateway to Mount Abu, at around 6:00 in the morning.\u00a0 We checked in at one of the hotels near the station and after freshening up and enjoying a delicious breakfast, directly commenced our sightseeing tour.<\/p>\n

Our first stop was, Dilwara temples known for their brilliant architecture and marble work. We were stunned by the awe-struck carvings in marble that make this group of 5 Jain temples the most beautiful pilgrimage spots in the world. From there we went on to see the famous Nakki Lake, which is considered sacred by the local community. We had packed a lunch from the hotel itself and enjoyed the meal on the banks of the lake while taking the beauty of the surroundings.<\/p>\n

The afternoon was spent exploring the Achalgarh fort, which also features the the Achaleshwar Mahadeva Temple. This historic remnant of an ancient kingdom seemed to transport us back in time and provide us a glimpse of the grandeur and elegance of the time. By the time we returned back to the hotel we were completely exhausted and so after a light dinner we went to bed.<\/p>\n

The next day we rose early and checked out from the hotel to take a ride to Guru Shikhar, the highest point in Mount Abu. We were enchanted by the mesmerizing natural beauty of the surroundings. On reaching the top we enjoy a panoramic view of the entire Aravalli range. We spent the entire morning at Guru Shikar driving back in the early afternoon. Our last stop in the city before boarding the evening train back to Delhi was Trevor\u2019s Tank, the man made crocodile breeding spot.<\/p>\n
