Situated quite close to the posh localities of Safdarjung, Lodhi Road and Defence Colony, the locality is divided into East and West sections. The area is primarily a residential one and also houses one of the five major railway stations of Delhi. The station handle a rush of around 2 lakh passengers on an average per day and is\u00a0 the originating station for several important trains connecting Delhi to various parts of the country. The responsibility of managing the station rests on the shoulders of Northern Railway Zone of Indian Railways. \u00a0The station boasts of 16 platforms which handle traffic of around 150 to 200 trains per day.
