Under the administrative remit of the East Coast Wing of the Indian Railways, the railway station in Visakhapatnam\u00a0operates major trains connecting it to all the major cities in South India such as Madras, Bangalore, and Hyderabad etc. Being strategically located on the Chennai \u2013 Central Howrah route, the station\u2019s name was changed in 1987 from \u2018Waltair Railway Station\u2019 to \u2018Visakhapatnam Junction\u2019. Given the commercial and industrial activity in the city, the rail network here is frequented by many passengers and hence a suburban station of Duvvadda is being developed, to ease the pressure on the main line.<\/p>\n
