While the white marble structure, the Taj Mahal, one of the World Wonders, a mausoleum built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in loving memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal is the prime attraction, it is not the only one. The Mughal rule in the area where Agra served as the capital has left the place with a number of forts and mausoleums depicting the history of that age of India. The main railway station of Agra is the Agra cantonment (cantt) railway station located in the south west part of the city and connects the major cities of Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai in India. Being one of the primary tourist places in India, Agra attracts over two million tourists per year with a good percentage of foreign tourists paying the place a visit. The station has six platforms and is amongst the top hundred booking stations in India making it a busy station too.<\/p>\n
