Located on the Deccan plateau, at a height of 560m above sea level, Pune boasts of a pleasant climate all year round. <\/span><\/h2>\n

The city, which was once the power center of the Maratha Empire, is in the modern times the cultural hub of the state of Maharashtra. The city is a major industrial hub and houses various traditional old-house industries along with several modern day manufacturing units. In addition, there are several research institutes for IT and management education which attract a large number of students to the city. Pune is one of the fastest growing cities in the Asia- Pacific region.<\/p>\n

Pune is also a major cantonment area for the Indian army and also houses the prestigious National Defense Academy that trains young officers for the armed forces. The city also features various museums, parks and zoos which display the history of the city and provide opportunities for recreational outing to the residents and visitors.\u00a0 Other famous places in the city include Aga Khan Palace, Sinhagad, Chaturshringi temple and Parvati hill etc.<\/p>\n

Pune Railway Station\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The Pune Junction Railway station falls under the Pune division of Central Railways. The station serves as a stop for the trains travelling towards Southern India from Mumbai and other North and West Indian regions. It is also a stop for the Deccan Odyssey tourist train operated by Indian railways that enables passengers to make a tour of Maharashtra and Goa. Given its strategic location, it is not surprising that most travelers in long distance trains opt to order food in Pune Railway Station<\/strong><\/a> through e-catering services.<\/p>\n

More recently, Pune Junction station has been chosen as the starting point of the planned bullet train to Ahmadabad. The bullet train is expected to cut down the travel time between the two cities from 10 hrs to around 2 hours with a single stoppage at Mumbai.<\/p>\n
